Can you post a link to photos?
i will try this evening. got to shovel out soon huge storm in the northeast ^^ we have a lack of light in our house so i will see if i can juggle a couple dolls under my desklamp lol.
I've heard about similar cases here in Russia when the parcel were sent from Hong Kong sellers (even reputable ones) but didn't post here since I'm not aware of all the details. It seems that there are fake LKs, Mango&Guava and UCs on the market right now and nobody knows where these fake dolls come from. The differences are very subtle but there are lots of them when comparing 2 dolls directly.
808heartbreaks - I'm so sorry that you have to deal with it!
Could these be factory reject dolls assembled by stolen reject parts and by then some mismatch or poor construction be there?
Or it would be even more intriguing if these dolls were actually produced as bootlegs... I am so curious.
oh sry inrisan forgot to reply. i'm having troublr posting on that sight :S i will go give it a second try.
Thank you for taking the time to post this, and I'm sorry this happened with your dolls! I think this is an important thing to let buyers know about, so that we can all be vigilant. It seems that the sellers are in many cases innocent victims of these fakes, as well. I hope this new trend can be stopped.
fyi a TIB user linked me an auction for Urban Cowgirl from tokyo expreszzz that has the same problems hers does. (she also got hers from the same shop) the scalp is a WAY different color than the face plate. I hate to call out a particular shop, and i can understand that in the case of mango and guava there are bangs covering the scalp so you can't really tell, but this difference is VERY obvious.
sorry if i'm going off about this i just thought people should know. avoid the shop? like i said i hate to smear a shop's name, especially when i've always had great service from them.
I'll leave the TIB users name out of it for now, but will ask her if i can link pics later.
ackkkk! I am currently waiting for a Simply Bubble Boom from this seller. I have had some issues with communication from them. The doll hasn't arrived and I asked them for tracking information and they have not responded. The estimated time is almost a week past. I am so hoping that I am not getting a fake Bubble Boom...but since there's only 1500 of them, I would hope the chance would be less that it is not the real deal. I will keep everyone posted.
just a quick update. posted on TIB. the seller refunded a whole freaking 20 dollars. i'm seeing red right now. and i can't believe the number of people who have had problems with dolls from this shop. i've been on the comp constantly just returning pm's, fm's etc. SIGH.
I was asked to post the following:
Someone on This Is Blythe gave me your email address (I do not have a live journal account) so that I may report a bad dolly deal.
It seems as though Ebay seller "tokyo_expreszz" is selling what appears to be fake Blythes. So far the "fakes" are Simply Mango, Simply Guava and Urban Cowgirl. The doll I received from tokyo_expreszz is Urban Cowgirl and she definitely has issues. I have spoken with several collectors that have also received these "fake" Blythes from this same seller.
The problems include a scalp that is really pinky and does not match the head. Screws in the back not in the correct position. The metal ring around the pull string hole is brass colored and not silver. Eye whites that are scratched. Eye holes that do not look right. Scratches on the arms, bigger than normal feet. A square indention around the ears of the dolls. Other collectors have said the clothing is cheap and ill made. I can say that the top of my doll's cowboy hat is faded.
I am attaching a link to my Flickr for pictures of the doll:http://www.flickr.com/photos/17561690@N07/
I did contact the seller concerning the problems with my doll and they did answer me, but wrote me off as a new collector and offered me nothing. They currently have on ebay now an Urban Cowgirl with the same defects as the one I received and even though I notified them of that fact, the auction is still live.
they finally provided the tracking information after I made a claim via ebay about them not communicating with me. From the looks of it, the doll is still sitting in HK waiting to be shipped out. I will be watching with great interest to see how this all plays out for everyone.
Thank you very much for posting here.
I've been aware of these problems since December and I'm very shocked that it still hasn't been made public from Takara Tomy. They have been quick to cry about factory Blythes and fake Blythes like Icy, Blyth etc.
For me the question is: are those really fake Blythes, or - as the silence from Takara suggests - are they real Takara Blythes that just show us the new direction towards even less quality standards.
I've made a flickr group now and hope many will join and add their photos. http://www.flickr.com/groups/1648247@N22/
I am worried about this also. My daughter bought a Simply Mango in Japan and picked her out of the three they had. The other two were not right including having the lip color stamped off the lips. What if you had a doll like this shipped to you and had to send it back! Can someone be found who recently bought a Simply Guava or Simply Mango that is absolutely not counterfeit and see if it has any issues compared to one bought at initial release?
For the Mango and Guava dolls, you can spot a fake by looking at the buttons on the overalls. One a legit girl, the buttons are evenly spaced down the front; on the fake the buttons are all at the very top of the bib. So a real girl would have them spaced like this: O O O, and the fakes are like this: OOO.
Of course, this relies on the seller using an actual picture of the doll....but I guess it's pretty safe to say that if their doll in the pic has the three buttons crammed together at the top of the opening instead of spaced, then they've had at least one counterfeit doll and they probably have others. I think for the dolls we KNOW that there are fakes out there for, it's probably a good idea to ask the seller for actual pics (rather than stock ones) before buying.
And anyone else think the fake UC's look like SH faceplates/bodies? They are WAY too tan.

I think it's the other way round. http://www.flickr.com/photos/drblythenstein/5291053013/in/pool-1648247@N22
The fake outfit is No.2
yes, it is the other way around. I have my original photos from my Mango back in the summer and the buttons are closer together at the top. I have a Gauva still in her box with the buttons evenly spaced but closer to the top of the overalls than all the way down the middle. I got mine (both of them) from HLJ so I am pretty sure they wouldn't be sending out counterfeit Blythes. It's all very confusing, isn't it?
(first, I'm spanish so sorry for my cryptic english)
I wanted to say that I've seen Dr.Blythensteins pictures and it's amazing how real they look, for some people will be impossible to guess they're fake.
They've nothing to do with those crappy "basaak" or "blybe" or "cce", they're nicely made, only few details jump on "expert" eyes.
We've discussed about this on the spanish forum and most of them have bought at the same seller than you, tokyo_expreszzz
I would never accept a partial refund, that's supporting them to do it... He must have get those dolls from a not so oficial seller, so if you force him for a full refund he will think twice next time. Give me my money and take back your fakes.
Hope Takara will do something against this ... soon... really soon.
Yep I agree with Janine, I would demand the WHOLE amount to be refunded because you paid for a REAL blythe and what you got was a fake. That is false advertisement and no one should settle for it.
Also, this is not regarding Mango but it is happening with more expensive dolls as well. here is a fake Last Kiss.. take a look at the green eye chips and the shade of the makeup, even the dress:http://www.flickr.com/photos/minminmushroom/5145912359/in/photostream/
